What you're up against
Almost every in-person procedure in Spain — NIE, TIE, padrón, driving licence — requires a cita previa booked online. In Valencia and other expat-heavy areas, demand massively exceeds supply, and the booking site greets most people with the same soul-crushing message: no hay citas disponibles.
Why it's not actually hopeless
Appointments aren't released once and gone forever. Offices release new slots in batches (often early in the morning or at set days), and cancellations drop back into the system at random times. 'No appointments' really means 'no appointments right now'. The people who succeed are simply the ones checking at the right moments.
The tactics that work
Check early morning (7–9am) and just after the hour, when batches often drop. Try every office in your province, not just the central one — a 20-minute train ride can save you three weeks. Have your details copied and ready to paste; slots vanish while you type. And refresh politely — hammering the site can get your IP temporarily blocked.
One warning: never buy an appointment from resellers or 'gestors' who offer guaranteed slots for cash — it's a grey market that offices actively cancel, and your trámite can be voided. Patience and timing beat paying every time.
The lazy route: let me do it
My cita previa service (€35) is exactly this: I monitor the system, grab the slot, and send you the confirmation plus the exact document list for your appointment. If you'd like the full hand-hold — forms, prep and accompaniment on the day — that's what the per-trámite services are for.
Everything booked in September is 50% off, so the cita is €17.50 this month. WhatsApp me which trámite and which city, and consider it handled.
